When Kate Middleton arrives at the same event as you, you should be prepared for her to upstage everyone present. The Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the 70th annual EE British Academy Film Awards in London on Sunday with her husband Prince William.
Before the event, there were speculations that members of the academy were worried about Kate’s appearance, and the possibility that she could outshine the nominees. They were right!
Kate Middleton appeared with her natural, effortless and glamorous look. Although her Kensington Palace home is just a few blocks away from the Royal Albert Hall, Kate Middleton and Prince William arrived last.
Without any doubt, Kate Middleton was the best-dressed attendee at 70th annual British Academy Film Awards. She wore an off the shoulder gown by Alexander McQueen featuring a drop-waist cup and a floral print, which is perfect for upcoming Spring season.
The Alexander McQueen dress she wore at the event is a version of the dress from the Spring/Summer 2016 resort collection. The original dress from the original Alexander McQueen collection features a corset body and straps. However, Middleton’s version of the gown has a Bardot cut.
It’s already known that Kate Middleton is a big fan of Alexander McQueen. Creative director of Alexander McQueen fashion house — Sarah Burton — designed the famous dress Kate wore at her wedding.
Kate Middleton’s everyday style is signed by labels like L.K. Bennet, Reiss and Hobbs. However, it is always a pleasure to see her glam look for the red carpet. This could be one of the best royal evening looks ever.
Her hair was twisted in a chic, royal up-do and she accessorized the look with statement chandelier earrings.
Kate Middleton was seated next to Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William arrived shortly after 6:30pm, just a few moments after Penelope Cruz had a brief photocall in a stunning gold gown.
Despite the cold, Kate decided not to cover her shoulders and she smiled at the crowd and photographers — although the couple did not stop to talk to the press.
The chief executive of the British Academy Film Awards, Amanda Berry, met them inside of the Royal Albert Hall. The couple was introduced to C. Jane Lush, Chair of the British Academy Film Awards, Barbara Broccoli, Vice President Film of British Academy Film Awards and Jon Moynihan, the President of the Royal Albert Hall.
The British Academy of Film and Television Art is one of the greatest supporters of film. The British Academy Film Awards identifies and rewards artists. Prince William has been the President of the Academy since February 2010. The couple supports the British Academy Film Awards’ charity events and programs — among which are Young Game Designers and British Academy Film Awards’ Kids events, and cross-cultural collaborations.
