NFL

The NFL is a high paid sport, but most of the teams overpay some of the players.

Recently, we saw so many contracts that are, in our opinion, just not worth that kind of money.

We are going to select five of the best contracts in the league right now, considering the price and the quality of the player.

Dont’a Hightower

Hightower has a four-year contract with the New England Patriots worth $35.5 million dollars, with $19 million guaranteed.

He went out to the market this summer, got several good offers, allegedly a really good one from the Steelers, but eventually, he turned everything down and came back to play for the Patriots for less money.

The Pro-Bowler and second team All-Pro in the last season, chose to stay in the familiar environment and continue playing in the dynasty team lead by Tom Brady.

Geno Atkins

The Cincinnati Bengals have one of the best defensive players in the league and $53 million for five years is a small price for Atkins. $15 million are guaranteed in this contract, but be sure that every cent is worth spending on this player. Since 2014 when he signed this deal with the Bengals, he recorded 23 sacks and 38 tackles for loss.

The players similar to Atkins received more lucrative deals and we can see that the Bengals hit the jackpot this time.

Marshal Yanda

The 6-time Pro-Bowl spent all of his career in Baltimore Ravens and he is currently on a four-year deal worth $32 million, $18 million guaranteed. The Ravens defense is totally dependent on this guy. Especially after last year’s deal when Kelechi Osemele went to the Oakland Raiders. In the last three years, he was ranked as number one guard by pro-Football Focus.
Do you think that a player like this should receive $4.5 million guaranteed per year or more?

Jordy Nelson

Jordy Nelson is one of the best receivers in the NFL. The Green Bay Packers are pretty much dependent on this guy. We saw this in the playoffs when he couldn’t play at his full strength, because of his injured ribs.
In 2014, he signed a 4-year deal worth $39 million, with 11.5 guaranteed. He missed the 2015 season because of a torn ACL but in the two years played, he recorded 27 touchdowns with 195 caught passes for 2776 yards.

Believe us when we tell you that Aaron Rodgers wouldn’t be as good as he is currently without Jordy Nelson.

Tom Brady

Without a doubt, the best deal in the NFL sits with the New England Patriots. For two years, they will pay $41 million dollars, $28 million guaranteed for the best quarterback in the last 20 years. This guy is leading the Patriots and without him, we are not so sure whether this team would record results like this. We are not going to tell you about his numbers in the previous years because you all know who Tom Brady is.

These are the five best contracts in the NFL, by our opinion.
