For Honor was released on February, 14, 2017, for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It is a hack and slash video game that is set in the medieval period. In For Honor, there are three factions (The Legion (knights), The Chosen (samurai), and The Warborn (vikings)) all at war with one another. Players choose which faction they want to join and pick a character from that faction to play as. The game features four character types: The Vanguards, which is the “balanced” character, The Heavies, which deal and take high damage but are slow, The Assassins, which are very fast but are the weakest character strength wise, and The Hybrid, which are a combination of all 3 factions. The Kensei, Orochi, Shugoki, and Nobushi are a part of The Chosen faction. The Wardens, Conquerors, Peacekeepers, and Lawbringers are a part of The Legion. The Raiders, Berserkers, Warlord, and Valkryies are a part of The Warborn.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is a survival horror game that was released on Jan. 24, 2017. The game is set in 2017 and occurs four years after the events of Resident Evil 6 in Louisiana. Players assume the role of Ethan Winters, a civilian, who is searching for his wife when he stumbles upon the Baker family plantation. This encounter begins a dangerous journey with Ethan trying to survive the dangerous family. The game boasts a VR mode on PS4 that works with the PSVR.
Grand Theft Auto V is an open world action-adventure game that was released on Sept. 17, 2013. Players follow the stories of Michael Townley, Franklin Clinton, and Trevor Phillips — career criminals — as they commit bank heists while trying to avoid the law. The game also includes the insanely popular GTA Online.
NBA 2K17 was released on Sept. 20, 2016. Like the previous installments, NBA 2K17 simulates the NBA experience to the fullest through its gameplay and content it provides. Along with all 32 NBA franchises, the game features the 2016 United States and Australia men’s basketball teams, 21 Euroleague teams, and a host of old school teams, including the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls and the 2000-01 Los Angeles Lakers. Players can play with any of these teams to play regular games against an AI controlled team or against another player.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare released on Nov. 4, 2016, and it saw the serious go to the last frontier — outer space. With this ambitious new setting, the game was allowed to introduce some new gameplay mechanics that have never been introduced in a Call of Duty title. Zero gravity areas were introduced and this called for the addition of a booster pack and a grappling hook so players could maneuver around the environment. Aerial combat is also introduced and is not a rail shooter, which means players have total control over their aerial combat movements and decisions.
