Unlike Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm respects Conor McGregor.
Two days ago, Ronda Rousey criticized Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. for being interested in only money. Today Holly Holm is praising Conor McGregor, prior to her clash with Germaine de Randamie. Holm told the media that she likes Conor McGregor’s mental games before every fight.
She believes that this is the key to his success, and that it has made him a much better fighter. She also said that she respects that Conor McGregor has the skills to back up everything he claims prior to his matches.
Holm said, and added, “I think he’s great. He’s been put in some bad spots and we’ve seen his vulnerabilities but I think that you have to have ability to be able to actually succeed in a lot of these things,” Holly Holm stated.
The mental strength that Conor McGregor shows is a vital part of his fighting skills. With his attitude, he’s pushing himself to prove everything that he boasts about.
“It is mostly mental, if you believe in yourself you’re going to perform well. He does believe in himself, he does believe that he’s capable and that is one of the biggest parts to his game – but, if he didn’t have any skill to back it up he wouldn’t be just making it off his mouth,” Holly Holm said.
Next February at UFC 208, Holly Holm will fight Germaine de Randamie for the UFC woman’s featherweight title. She is hoping for a rematch with Ronda Rousey.
Before the whole statement Ronda Rousey slammed Mayweather and McGregor in an interview given to ESPN: “If money is the motivation then f*** that,” Rousey angrily said in front of cameras. “All these Money people… Money [Floyd] Mayweather, Money [Conor] McGregor. I see that they’re trying to do an angle or whatever. People buy it.”
She continued then to criticize society: “The worship of money is our society is so deep. But just because that’s the easiest way to keep people’s attention or entertain them doesn’t mean that’s the right way.”
As a reminder, Holly Holm defeated Ronda Rousey at UFC 193. Since then everybody is hoping for a rematch.
