John Mayer: Katy Perry is The Inspiration Behind His New Song

John Mayer released his song “Still Feel Like Your Man” about a month ago.

While talking about it in a recent interview with The New York Times, the singer admitted that the song was inspired by his ex-girlfriend.

Some of the lyrics from the song indicate how much he misses her:

“I still keep your shampoo in my shower / in case you wanna wash your hair /And I know that you probably found yourself some more somewhere / But I do not really care.”

“Still like the letters in your name and how they feel, babe / Still think I’m never gonna find another you / Still like to leave the party early and go home, babe / And don’t you know, babe / I’d rather sit here on my own and be alone, babe.”

He said;

“Who else would I be thinking about?”

“And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”

John Mayer and Katy Perry dated for about 1.5 years. During their relationship they had many ups and downs.

It was quite evident from the interview that John is still very much into Katy. Although he’s quite active on a dating app. He said:

“It’s just lot of chatter…we all talk to the same people. There are very few people actually meeting up.”

He actually wishes to settle down and build his family now.

These days he’s working on his new album – The Search for Everything.

While talking about his album, John Mayer said that this album is intended to answer some of the difficult questions in his life, the questions that actually don’t have any answers.

He said:

“It’s not pretty, those words,”

“But the one thing I look forward to the most as I re-enter this level of the music world is I really want to experience saying something that I can defend no matter what.

“It’s like: ‘John, they’re gonna come after you. They’re going to ask about it,’” he said with a cackle. “I say, ‘Let ‘em.’”
