An unknown attacker killed four people and injured 29 more when he drove into a crowd of people on Westminister bridge in London.
Four people are still in critical condition and the doctors are fighting for their lives.
He later attacked a police officer who was guarding the entrance and gates of Westminister palace.
Police claim that five people were killed, but nothing is yet confirmed.
They also stated that the identity of the attacker isn’t going to be revealed until investigation ends, saying that this could endanger the whole operation.
They, however, revealed the name of the stabbed police officer. Keith Palmer, 48-years-old, was a member of a special unit that protects parliament and diplomats.
Earlier this morning, the Scotland Yard and the intelligence services raided six different locations in Birmingham and arrested seven suspects who are believed to have strong connections with this attack. Birmingham is known as one of the cities where Islamic fanatics have a stronghold.
The United Kingdom Defense Minister Michaell Fallon said today that this attack is connected with ISIS.
“We’re dealing with an enemy, a terrorist enemy, that is not making demands or taking people hostages, but simply wants to kill as many people as possible,” Fallon said.
He also stated that police and all other security institutions are working on this matter and that they are trying to gather information.
“The police are investigating this man, his associates, where he came from. They are checking urgently whether other people were involved in this. Their working assumption is that this is linked to Islamic terrorism.”
London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, issued an interesting tweet saying that terrorist attacks are ”part and parcel of living in the big city.”
A huge number of people protested because of this, saying that Khan is not capable of doing his job and that he is not worthy of his position.
Khan, who is a Muslim himself, is under huge pressure after his statement, and even the son of President Donald Trump tweeted and reacted to this news.
”You have to be kidding me?!” wrote Donald Trump Jr.
Prime Minister Teresa May said that the people living in London have to move on. Life in London has to continue as usual.
“Tomorrow morning, Parliament will meet as normal. We will come together as normal. And Londoners — and others from around the world who have come here to visit this great City — will get up and go about their day as normal,” May added that there is no place for hate and terror and that moving forward is the right answer. “And we will all move forward together. Never giving in to terror. And never allowing the voices of hate and evil to drive us apart.”
The latest update is that the police identified the attacker. His name is Khalid Masood.
